Sick Day

Not long ago when Brock was sick, he would spend the entire day on the couch or in bed watching cartoons and movies. But yesterday, Brock stayed home from church with a sore throat and cough, and spent the entire time on the couch watching the Bears vs. Packers game - by himself. I suddenly realized how much he's grown up over the past year when he ran upstairs to tell me that "Urlacher just picked it off!" It still cracks me up that he not only knows terms like that, but really understands what he's talking about. Today Brock stayed home from school just to make sure his fever didn't come back, and this afternoon I took both boys to the dentist. Last week we all went to the optometrist, and Tyler was very offended that he didn't get to sit in the big chair and do all of the tests the rest of us got to do. If only I could describe the look of pride on his face today when he got to sit in the same chair Brock had sat in and get pictures of HIS teeth taken, too. He even let the girl wedge those big squares you have to bite down on into his mouth without a single protest, and he held perfectly still for the x-ray. The dental hygenist said she has never had a little kid sit so still and be so cooperative before. Thank heaven for older brothers!

Three of our kids have been sick with the fever too. It's not fun being sick, but it's nice that they're so cuddly. I hope Brock feels better soon.

Yep, a sports fanatic. Every father's dream! How did you get so lucky? We put Max on a soccer team and he refused to play. He didn't like it when all the people were watching him:)
